Please be aware that due to a high level of demand, I may need to add your name to a waiting list and/or refer you to other therapists before I can schedule an appointment.


Rates
$140--$100 of yearly income per 50-minute session, and prorated for longer sessions.  Sliding fee scale based on $1 per $1,000 in yearly income (i.e. $90,000 a year would be $90 per hour)


Payment

New options for accepting Visa, Mastercard, Discover debit, credit, HSA, & FSA cards in a HIPPAA-secure way through IVY PAY.


Otherwise, cash, credit cards, money orders, cashier's checks, & personal checks are accepted for payment. There is a fee for a returned check, as well as an inability to accept future payments by check.


Cancellation Policy
If you do not show up for your scheduled appointment, and you have not notified us at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session (not just your co-pay).


Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work?

I do not accept insurance. However, I can always provide you with the needed documenation and billing so that you may be reimbursed by your insurance carrier.  I do accept funding from Victim Compensation.

I caution people about using insurance for mental health services, because most insurance companies require you to authorize me to provide them with a clinical diagnosis. Sometimes I have to provide additional clinical information such as treatment plans or summaries, or copies of the entire record (in rare cases). This information will become part of the insurance company files and will probably be stored in a computer. Though all insurance companies claim to keep such information confidential, I have no control over what they do with it once it is in their hands. In some cases, they may share the information with a national medical information databank.  While insurance makes treatment more affordable, you often end up paying more by a losing your privacy rights.  It is important to remember that you always have the right to pay for my services yourself to avoid the problems described above (unless prohibited by contract).

To determine if you have mental health coverage, the first thing you need to do is check with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session? How much is my deductible?  How much is my co-pay?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
  • Is the therapist I want a provider for my specific insurance plan?
  • Will I be reimbursed (and if so, how much) if I use an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • What is my authorization number for treatment services?
